What your child learns

The mistake most kids make here

Thinking Wednesday comes after Monday.

Try one question

After Monday comes…

After Monday

Answer

Tuesday — Yes. Tuesday.

How Maya teaches it

Your child tells Maya what they did in class. She teaches this topic at her desk, asks questions with tappable answers, and when the answer is wrong she explains why that answer was tempting instead of saying “try again”. She remembers what did not land and comes back to it.

Your child has it when they can: Say after Monday comes Tuesday.

How to help at home

The full order is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. After Monday comes Tuesday — not Wednesday. After Friday comes Saturday.

Practice by counting the days out loud together every morning, in order, without skipping — a short daily habit is often enough to fix a skipped day.

If your child jumps from Monday to Wednesday, ask "what day comes in between?" and let them find Tuesday themselves, rather than just supplying it.

A good sign of mastery: they can say the full week in order without skipping a day, and can answer "what comes after Monday?" correctly and quickly.

Questions parents ask

Why does my child skip Tuesday?
Seven new day names in a fixed order is a lot to hold at once, and a middle day like Tuesday — sandwiched between two more familiar ones — is an easy one to drop.
What's a good daily practice habit?
Counting the days of the week out loud together each morning, in order, builds the sequence up gradually without needing a separate lesson.
Should I teach the days starting from Sunday or Monday?
Either works, as long as it's consistent — pick one starting point and stick with it so the order itself, not the starting day, is what gets practiced.
How does Maya teach this differently from a worksheet?
Maya asks what comes after a specific day, one step at a time, so the child builds the sequence by answering questions rather than only reciting the full list.
