Children’s Privacy Notice

A notice for every parent worldwide: what is collected about children, how you approve, and how you delete. Aligned to COPPA, GDPR for children, the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, and counterpart laws.

Effective 14 August 2026

1. The service is directed to children

Maya is for school-age learners, with a parent. We do not ask a child for email, precise location, or a friend list.

2. Age by country

United States: COPPA under 13. European Union: consent age 16 unless the member state set 13–15. United Kingdom: UK GDPR plus the Age Appropriate Design Code. Other countries: the age set by local law. In the product itself — parent verification for all of our age bands (including 13–17) before AI.

3. What is collected about the child

Room name, progress, language, accessibility choices, device id. If they ask for an AI lesson: text/page photo/voice — processed by the AI provider, then not kept by us. We do not sell children’s information. No targeted ads.

4. Verifiable parental consent

The parent enters an email and confirms a link. Until verification, server AI stays locked. The room may open after the email is sent, but a live model lesson waits for the parent. You can pause AI and delete from the /parent screen.

5. Parent rights in every country

To review, correct, delete, and refuse further collection. In the US — also under COPPA. In Europe/UK — the rights of the child’s legal representative. In Canada, Brazil, Australia, Japan, and the rest of the world — under local law, via the same email.

6. Age-appropriate design

Defaults protect: no child-to-child social network, no location, no ads in the lesson, no public sharing. Privacy settings are not “exposed by default.”
